PTL Removals are an independent family run removal business covering the whole of the North west, including Lancaster, Carlisle , Blackpool, Preston, Liverpool, Manchester and everywhere in between. Back in 1984 we had a vision to set up a professional removal company with a real emphasis on quality and customer service excellence. Fast forward 35 years and our reputation has continued to grow and we can now boast to having 4 generations working in this family-owned firm. Our team are expertly trained and motivated to provide a personal and professional service.

 

Today our business has expanded greatly, but we have still kept our family values, which means personal service is our main objective and this feeling is passed on by our office staff and team of movers, many of whom have been with the business throughout its expansion. Removals Checklist

4 WEEKS TO GO
  1. Advise PTL Removals & Storage of your proposed moving date, we understand dates can change so advise us as soon as you know of any changes.
  2. Make a list of items to be moved which need particular care and pack/wrap/label as fragile.
  3. Confirm childcare (or Pet) arrangements for moving day.
  4. Plan the best way to look after pets on removal day.
  5. Start packing – the sooner you start to pack the less stressful it will be, don’t forget the loft, garage or shed!
  6. Label boxes with contents and which room they should be put in as you pack them, there’s nothing worse than having to open blank boxes when looking for something important.
  7. Clear out unwanted belongings.
  8. Start using up food in the freezer.
2 -3 WEEKS TO GO
  1. Contact service providers to arrange final accounts and reconnection at your new home.
  2. Telecoms/cable provider – arrange transfer of phone number to your new home.
  3. Electric supplier
  4. Gas/Oil Supplier
  5. Water Rates
  6. Council Tax
  7. TV Licence
NOTIFY CHANGE OF ADDRESS
  1. Post Office – arrange for redirection of your mail by completing the appropriate form at your local Post Office.
  2. Government and local agencies such as, Inland Revenue and DVLA for both driving licences and motor vehicle V5 log books.
  3. Organisations you have subscriptions with (charities/clubs/periodicals/book clubs etc.)
  4. Banks/building societies and any other organisations where you have investments i.e. stockbrokers/premium bonds.
  5. Credit cards/Store cards
  6. Insurance companies and brokers you regularly deal with.
  7. Solicitors (even the ones dealing with the sale/purchase).
  8. Telephone companies (landline and mobiles).
  9. Medical – doctors, dentists and opticians.
  10. Schools and colleges.
2 DAYS TO GO
  1. Defrost the fridge/freezer
  2. Cancel deliveries: milk / newspapers
  3. Double check with the solicitor that everything is still fine for your planned removal day and try get an exact time that you will be given the keys to your new property and the old owners will have vacated by.
THE DAY BEFORE
  1. Pack personal valuables/cash and documents separately to take with you.
  2. Pack “survival bags” for moving day. Include a change of clothes, toiletries and towels. You may also need items such as matches, torches, kitchen towels, toilet rolls, candles, light bulbs and a tool kit could be very useful. We have known old owners to take every light bulb with them!
  3. Keep the kettle/tea bags/coffee/milk maybe a snack handy for arrival at your new home.
  4. Check drawers/chests for any fragile items.
  5. Place liquids, oils in sealed containers so no leakage will occur.
  6. Paints/flammables cannot be taken on our vehicle due to them being highly flammable so you need to make other arrangements for these.
  7. Take down curtains and blinds and put house plants in containers.
  8. Make sure your washer/dishwasher etc. is unplumbed.
THE BIG DAY
  1. Confirm service meter readings and keep a spare copy of readings.
  2. Keep the vacuum cleaner till last to give everything a once over before you leave and so you can do your new home before your belongings go in – switch off power and water supplies if necessary.
  3. Lock all windows and doors.
  4. Drop keys off with estate agent.
  5. Exchange contact numbers and agree a meeting time with removals team.
